Dawn Sturkey is a Provisionally Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and a Licensed Master Social Worker in South Carolina. Dawn has passed the ASWB Clinical Social Work Exam, and is working toward full licensure. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education-Psychology from Clemson University in 1989 and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1997. Her experience has touched clients at almost every stage of development—from developmentally delayed toddlers and preschoolers to emotionally disturbed adolescents as well as counseling hospice patients and families. Dawn has also been extensively trained in healing prayer by Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida. Her passion is to bring the healing power of Jesus Christ to broken and hurting individuals since we know from God’s Word that “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3). Dawn joined the staff at Agape in 2008. She enjoys working with both individuals and couples. Dawn has varied experience counseling clients struggling with depression, relationship problems, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting, family of origin issues as well as adjustment to life circumstances.
Dawn has been married for more than 21years to her college sweetheart, David. They have 3 active sons who love sports, and many evenings and weekends are spent watching them on a field or a court. She maintains close relationships with her extended family, and loves lunches with her girlfriends. Dawn is a member of All Saints Anglican Church where she serves on the Prayer Team, which offers intercessory and healing prayer, and the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team.
